Mayer Security Services has been selected to provide construction site security for Harris County’s Single-Family New Construction Program (SFNCP), working in partnership with general contractor JWTC Construction. This engagement places our team on the front lines of one of the most significant affordable housing initiatives in the greater Houston area.

What Is the Harris County Single-Family New Construction Program (SFNCP)?

The Harris County Single-Family New Construction Program (SFNCP) is an affordable housing initiative operated by Harris County Housing & Community Development that provides low-to-moderate-income households the opportunity to purchase newly built homes throughout Harris County. The program was created to address a critical shortfall exposed by Hurricane Harvey: the lack of affordable, resilient housing stock available to working families across the county.

In the years since Harvey, Harris County has acquired land and invested in developing entire communities of new homes. These are not stopgap builds. They are amenity-rich neighborhoods designed to give qualified residents a real path to homeownership in a market that has priced many of them out.

To qualify, a household’s income cannot exceed 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI) as defined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The SFNCP was specifically designed to bridge the gap between a homebuyer’s mortgage approval amount and the actual sales price of the home, closing a financing gap that has historically kept first-time buyers on the sidelines.

Construction site security is critical for publicly funded housing developments because active jobsites concentrate high-value materials that make them prime targets for theft, vandalism, and trespass.
